HISTORY OF BILLABONG
Billabong was founded by an Australian Surfer Gordon Merchant and his wife Rena. Designing and making the boarshorts in their home, with a triple stitch that made the boardie really durable. The logo is made up of two waves not running together, which makes them motionless. The name Billabong is made up of two words Billa an Australian word meaning river or creek, and bong meaning to die...........the two together mean a section of water or creek that's stagnant and no longer running. They opened their first factory in 1975. They reached the 1 million dollar mark and started sponsoring the World Final Surfing Contest. Billabong is recognized everywhere here and internationally.
